Ah, the life of a teenager. Between school, practice, work, college prep, away games and parties — you’re busy. Which is why MCU makes managing your finances so easy. So easy, in fact, that you could monitor checking and savings from your pizza-smeared phone and get back to binge-watching cat videos. Yep, that simple. Oh, and we also offer scholarships for high school kids who earn them. #lifeisgood.
Missouri Credit Union designed two accounts to provide financial learning opportunities for children and teenagers. Kirby Kangaroo Club is for children 12-years old and under. The New Attitudes program is for teenagers, 13- through 17-years old.
Kirby Kangaroo Club
Kirby Kangaroo Club offers your child the opportunity to save and manage their own money. When Club members meet their quarterly goals they can claim a reward from MCU staff.
The New Attitudes program offers teenagers the ability to manage their savings and checking accounts. They can have access to direct deposits, online and mobile banking, remote deposit, debit card, auto loans, and small personal loans (with approved credit; some restrictions may apply). Teenagers are encouraged to manage their money well.
Missouri Credit Union is proud to sponsor Googolplex for kids and older students. They easily learn age-appropriate financial concepts through these highly interactive sites:
5 Spot™ (for ages 6-10) introduces kids to the credit union, and engages them through highly interactive games, stories and more. Kids can:
- Earn virtual money by playing games and reading stories; spend it decorating a personal virtual clubhouse; and
- Practice saving, spending and sharing.
A-J’s™ (for ages 11-13) offers a fun meeting place, encouraging creative interaction while educating about money and responsibility. Students can:
- Vote on comic book story lines teaching money management;
- Post notes to their friends; and
- Build their own super-hero identities.
C-Note™ (for ages 14-18) has interactive features that teach money management skills. Students can:
- Have a chance to win and save money by entering photo contests;
- Reach out to others using a moderated comment feature and blog posts; and
- View entertaining student-created videos that provide financial lessons.
MCU is a Partner-in-Education (PIE) with Rock Bridge Elementary School in Columbia and East Elementary School in Jefferson City. PIE is a premier school-business partnership program that enhances the educational experience of students and strives to increase their success. For partners, the rewards are both immediate and long-term — an effective educational system prepares its students to succeed in an ever-challenging and complex world and contributes to the economic health of Boone and Cole counties.
Members who have college-bound students may apply for a MCU Scholarship.
